About the Spa
The Redondo, one of the world's premiere spa destinations, has long been a Northern California mainstay. Originally constructed in 1870 as a single family residence, the manor quickly became known throughout the region for its sheer size and incorporation of multiple architectural disciplines.
While most famous as a spa, the Redondo has a gone through many transformations over the years. In 1883 the Bell family transformed the residence into a sanitarium. Then, their son, Hippocrates Bell, closed the sanitarium and transformed the house into an elaborate mechanical workshop. Following his death, the residence was purchased and remodeled, becoming the Redondo spa. Though the Redondo has been fully modernized, hints of the past linger, greeting each visitor at this beautiful landmark.
